Dati exemple de forme de plural utilizate in exercitiile de mai sus. 

De regula, in engleza, pluralul substantivelor se formeaza adaugand -s / -es / -ies sau -ves la sfarsitul cuvantului.

1. Majoritatea substantivelor primesc terminatia -s la plural:

Exemplu:
1 car –  2 cars (masina – masini)
 1 boy –  2 boys (baiat – baieti)
 1 flower –  2 flowers (floare – flori)

2. – es se foloseste pentru substantive care se termina cu – s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, -o

Exemplu:
 1 bus – 2 buses (autobuz – autobuze)
 1 class – 2 classes (clasa/ ora  – clase/ ore )
 1 dish –  2 dishes (farfurie – farfurii)
1 peach – 2 peaches (piersica – piersici)
1 fox –  2 foxes (vuple – vulpi)
1 tomato –  2 tomatoes (rosie – rosii)

Exceptii:
1 radio –  2 radios (radio – radiouri)
 1 piano –  2 pianos (pian – piane)

3. -ies se foloseste pentru substantive care termina cu consoana + y, cu eliminarea literei y

Exemplu:
 1 cherry –  2 cherries (cireasa – cirese)
 1 baby –  2 babies (bebelus – bebelusi)
 1 lady –  2 ladies (doamna – doamne)
 1 city – 2  cities (oras – orase)

4. -ves se foloseste pentru substantive care se termina in -f sau -fe

Exemplu:
 1 leaf –  2 leaves (frunza – frunze)
 1 wife – 2  wives (sotie – sotii)
 1 wolf –  2 wolves (lup – lupi)

Exceptii:
1 roof –  2 roofs (acoperis – acoperisuri)
 1 cliff –  2 cliffs (stanca – stanci)

5. Unele substantive au forma de plural neregulata:

Exemplu:
1 child – 2  children (copil – copii)
 1 tooth –  2  teeth (dinte – dinti)
1 goose –  2 geese (gasca – gaste)
 1 ox – 2 oxen (bou – boi)
1 deer –  2 deer (caprioara/ cerb  – caprioare/ cerbi )
 1 woman – 2  women (femeie – femei)
1 man –  2 men (barbat – barbati)
 1 sheep – 2  sheep (oaie – oi)

Atentie!
Adjectivele nu au forma de plural:

Exemplu:
one happy boy – two happy boys (un baiat fericit – doi baieti fericiti)
